Stocking days and times
Talar stockings are available from Monday-Friday. Stockings happen between 9AM and 6PM. On the morning of your stocking day, you’ll receive a notification with a 4-hour delivery window. If that window is a problem, contact us immediately and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Do I need to be home?
No, you don’t! The beauty of our restocking service is that you don’t have to be home to receive your groceries. Once your order is confirmed, you’re done. We take care of the rest, from the store(s) to your fridge. No need to select a delivery window nor plan around one; everything is set when you return home.
What happens on my stocking day?
1) Notification of delivery window
The morning of your delivery, you receive a notification giving the 6-hour window during which your groceries will be delivered. We notify you again when your Care team is on their way to your home.
2) Notification of arrival
When your care team arrives at your house, they always knock on your door in case you are at home. You also receive a notification. Then, they begin stocking, placing groceries in your fridge, freezer and cabinets.
3) Notification of completed stocking
Once the groceries are put away, your care team leaves the house, locks the door and sends another notification. You will also receive pictures of all of your items in their respective locations.
How is your service different from Instacart or Amazon Fresh?
There are several reasons our customers prefer Talar over other grocery services:
We shop at many different stores (at no extra cost per store) and bring all the products in one trip.
We put products away — literally — into the fridge and pantry.
Our customers don’t have to be home to receive their orders. Everything is safely stored when they return home.
We use much less packaging. We carry products in reusable crates and coolers, straight to our customers’ kitchens.
How is your service different from a regular subscription service?
You can subscribe to bananas, LaCroix or your favorite milk… all in one shot and through a single interface. Products also arrive all at once!
Since we visit your home, we keep track of your inventory to make sure we never over- or under-stock you.
Where do you source your products from?
We shop for you at Whole Foods, Target, Costco, Safeway, Bi-Rite Market and Trader Joe’s. We can also manage subscriptions to online grocery services (e.g. Blue Apron) for you and make sure they are delivered straight to your fridge.
How does home access work?
It depends on the type of building you live in. We work with a variety of solutions, from lockboxes or physical key pickups to smart locks. If you’re unsure of how this could work for you, set up time with our team to discuss potential options.
Who will be coming to my house?
Upon sign up, based on your area and preferred stocking day, you get assigned a care team made up of 2-3 shoppers and inventory managers. These are the people who will be responsible for your house and who will be visiting it regularly. You’ll have a direct line with them to share preferences, provide feedback (if any) or to simply provide them your appreciation! Over time, you’ll develop a close relationship, similar to the one you may have today with your cleaner, dog-walker, or nanny.
Our care teams are made up of part-time chefs, moms, nannies, and people from the hospitality sector, who want a side job that doesn't take up their whole week but that offers them some predictable revenue and schedules.
How do you hire your care teams?
Our team members are a part of the Talar family, and so we take hiring them extremely seriously. We perform extensive background checks and personally vet all the members of our care teams.

We run extensive background checks on all of our teams (managed by Checkr). We use their most comprehensive screening option, which is also one of the most rigorous in the market. Some of the records we check for include:

2) Vetting process
We also run a rigorous internal vetting process, including thorough discussions with references to ensure candidate-job fit. Additionally, if a customer does not feel comfortable with their care team, we would be happy to assign them with a different care team.
How does onboarding work?
Onboarding is normally done in-person, at your home, and lasts around 30mins. It’s designed to be an opportunity for you to meet a representative of your care team, and start building a relationship with each other. During the time together, your care team will:
Get familiar with your space.
Take note of different stocking areas, and of where each product goes.
Learn about your preferences.
Figure out access to the space going forward.

My home is a mess right now, and I don’t have time to organize. Can I still sign up?
First of all, we feel you! We know how hard it can be to keep your pantry organized when you’re busy taking care of other important stuff.
We do our best to accommodate all situations and help as much as we can — no worries, we’ve seen it all! If you’re looking for a complete fresh start though, we can also recommend a certified Home & Kitchen organization service, and collaborate with them to make sure you have the pantry and fridge you’ve always dreamt about.
Can I skip the in-person onboarding? I’m too busy.
Yes, you can also opt in for a virtual onboarding. We will ask you to create a video tour of your kitchen and areas to stock. We will also share intro videos of each member of your care team. (You will have the option to schedule a video call with them as well.)
How does pricing of the actual products work?
You will be able to view prices as you build your list. If a product is carried by several stores, we will always aim to source it from the cheapest source. Prices may vary depending on store availability.
Is there a free trial?

Can I share a plan with roommates, partners or significant others?
As long as they live with you, absolutely! Every plan is tied to a specific delivery address, which can be associated with up to 4 different user names or emails.
Can I change my plan?
Sure! Changing plans is simple. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. You can also pause your subscription if you expect not to be home for an extended period of time.
